Matt Monohan, Tim Brokop, and Jay Vincent all received league awards. Monohan from St. Xavier University hit .365, 10 doubles, 4 triples, and 4 Home runs in league play this summer. Offensively and defensively was considered by many managers as one the best players overall in the GWL. Tim Brokop pitched 48 innings this summer with a 5.00 ERA and was second overall in strikeouts with 64 in the GWL. Tim saw innings out of the pen and in the bullpen early in the season but settled in as the Seals ace this summer. Jay Vincent finished the season tied for the team leader in Home Runs with 5 and also had 9 doubles with a .316 average. Jay also brought home the award as champion of the Home Run Derby in the 2018 GWL All-Star game in Klamath Falls this summer. We are very proud of their accomplishments and wish them and all our 2018 Seals the best of luck for this upcoming Fall and Spring Season.
AUGUST 20, 2018 – PORTLAND, OR: The 2018 All-Great West League team has been announced by league commissioner Ken Wilson. The voting was conducted by the league managers.
Thirteen players from the 2018 GWL Champion Chico Heat were selected to either the first or second team All-GWL. The Lincoln Potters had seven selections.
Thirteen players received votes from every manager, though not a single player received a number one vote at his position from each manager. “Seeing so many players receiving votes speaks well for the depth of talent in the league this season,” noted Wilson.

ALL of the Seals coaching staff are currently collegiate level coaches. Abel Alcantar, founder and owner of the Seals, has been a collegiate level coach at NCAA and JC schools for over 25 years. He also has experience being a professional scout for the major league baseball teams including the New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers. The Seals as an organization, from our youth to collegiate level teams, has positively influenced thousands of players to grow and mature as a person and a player, on and off the field. We take pride as an organization in making sure each team is learning the game and that each individual is honing their baseball skills. Each individual will have the opportunity to take part in the various things we offer outside of the team scheduled practices at a better rate such as Private Lessons, Batting Practice, Camps, and Defensive Skills.

The Great West League gives the Seals a great opportunity to play in a prestige league. The league is going into its 3rd year of operation and offers great competition with professional, minor-league like atmosphere. While running as an Independent team the last few years the Seals have played 16-18 home games in the summer and have traveled extensively throughout several states and internationally to play top competition from different Leagues. Some of the states include Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Alaska, Kansas, and internationally into Canada. By joining the Great West League it will allow us to continue to still travel and play a highly competitive schedule. It will also give us the benefit of playing 26-30 home games out of the newly renovated College of Alameda baseball field. This will give the community an opportunity to see these highly talented college athletes, who are the pros of the future, right here in the city of Alameda.
